About NZMAI

Built by people who've done the job

NZMAI (New Zealand Mortgage Adviser Institute) started in September 2023 as a training organisation, giving people new to mortgage advice the training, mentoring and tools to get started.

The people who own and run NZMAI hold the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5) with the residential property lending and investment strands. They built and grew their own mortgage advice business, bringing on and training more than 16 new advisers in a single 12-month period. That taught them what new advisers need to get going, what holds a growing advice business back, and what actually brings in clients.

Why we stopped advising and started building

The NZMAI team no longer gives mortgage advice. Instead, we've put everything we learned into the support we wished we'd had: tools that bring clients to you, training that fits around your work, introductions to the suppliers advisers use, and market updates in one place.

The same problems kept coming up: too few new clients, clients drifting away after settlement, and too much time and money going on software, compliance and admin. Most of the tools out there were built overseas or for banks, not for a New Zealand adviser running their own business. So we built our own, through Riverhorse Technologies, and NZMAI brings them together in one membership.

We don't compete with you

We don't advise clients, so we'll never compete with you for them. Our only job is helping your business grow:
